UK government to brief on intl travel amid traffic light system suggestions

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to use a Downing Street briefing later today (5 April) to outline measures intended to kickstart international travel. Speculation is rife that a country-based ‘traffic light system’ could determine testing and isolation requirements for arrivals into the UK. It has been widely suggested in the national and international press that ‘green’, ‘red’ or ‘amber’ statuses would be assigned to countries based on their Covid-19 vaccination and infection rates. Under current rules international travel is banned until 17 May at the earliest except under circumstances where there is a ‘reasonable excuse’, excluding holidays.

$2.3 Million in Grants to Airports, Ports From Ephrata to Pasco By way of the US Dept. of Transportation and the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) $2.3 million in grants have been awarded for a variety of port and airport upgrades in southeastern WA, including Tri-Cities. Congressional Rep. Dan Newhouse said Thursday April 1st the grants are federal investments that will greatly upgrade the airports; allowing for increased transportation and commerce.  The projects, according to Newhouse s office, include: $300,000 to the Port of Ephrata (Ephrata Municipal) for sealing runway pavement surface/pavement joints and sealing taxiway pavement surface/pavement joints to extend the pavement’s useful life.
